Programs on Gender
Want to know more about how gender affects your college experience and life choices? Want to gain skills and information to get a leading edge and enhance your success on campus and beyond? Check out our program schedule for our current offerings.

The ETWRC also provides workshops and trainings on gender-related topics for student organizations, classes and groups. Topics available include:

  • assertiveness
  • sexual violence and safety
  • healthy relationships
  • body image
  • women and the media
  • speaking to be heard in the classroom
  • women's emotional toolkit

"From the Inside Out" Body Image Peer Education Program

Trained student volunteers facilitate interactive, activity-based discussion on issues related to media images, gender stereotypes, self-esteem and their effect on body image, which can contribute to low self-esteem, unhealthy choices, health concerns and disordered eating. This program is sponsored by the ETWRC in collaboration with Watkins Wellness Center and Counseling and Psychological Services. Interested in hearing more or having us facilitate a presentation? Leadership Training

The ETWRC provides programs, information, resources and assistance to help women students develop their leadership skills and potential. Check out the annual half-day Women's Leadership Conference, held in the Kansas Union, that is designed to help women eliminate personal barriers, acquire skills, and network with student, staff and faculty leaders on campus.

Books and Periodicals

Doing research for a class on gender-related issues? Looking for materials on women's issues, eating disorders, relationships or other issues for your own information? The ETWRC has a collection of books and materials on current issues related to women and gender. Books are housed in the Wheat Room in the Student Involvement & Leadership Center, where students can browse through materials or do research. Click here for a current listing of our books.

KU Women 4 KU Women Fund

This fund, created by the Women Philanthropists for KU, provides one-time assistance for KU full-time senior or graduate-level women students with an emergency or urgent need (non-medical) to help them achieve their goals and pursue their life/career path. Specific needs may include assistance with book expenses, leadership conference fees, graduate exam application fees, and job interview costs. Click here for the application.
