▪Stalking is a prolonged criminal behavior that endangers the victim, his/her family, the community, and also poses a very real threat for workplace violence.

▪One in 12 women are stalked at some point in their lives.

▪A woman is three times more likely to be stalked than raped.

▪Most victims are between the ages of 18 and 29.

▪Between 26.6 and 35.2% of female students and between 14.7 and 18.4% of male students have been stalked.

▪Millions of individuals, both female and male, are secondary targets of stalking.

▪More than 45% of all stalking cases involve disruption within the workplace.

▪Approximately 50% of all stalking victims never report their victimization to law enforcement.

▪Only 25% of all stalking victims obtain restraining orders against their assailants.

▪Approximately 24% of female victims who report to the police have their cases prosecuted. Of these, 54% of the stalkers are convicted.

▪As of January 1, 1994, all fifty states in the U.S. have anti-stalking laws.

▪The Interstate Stalking Punishment and Prevention Act of 1996 makes it a federal offense to engage in stalking behavior across state lines.

▪An estimated 750,000 to 1.25 million women and 200,000 to 600,000 men are stalked annually.

▪Over 10 million men and women had been stalked at least once in their lifetime.
