Online harassment/cyberstalking is repeated and intentional harassment/pursuit of an individual using the Internet and email. Consider the following advice:
▪Consider using a gender-neutral chat name or user ID.
▪Do not give out your password.
▪Instruct child(ren) not to give out personal information without their parent's or guardian's permission.
▪Do not provide your credit card information to companies with which you are not familiar.
▪Obtain a free email account. Acquiring such an account does not involve releasing personal information.
▪Give your primary email address only to those you trust.
▪If you feel threatened or intimidated by someone while online, contact the police.
▪To report online harassment, email postmaster@ku.edu explaining the situation and they will contact the Internet provider (For further information, contact Academic Computing Services at 864-0200).
